Yosemite Part Deux!

June 7th

So we decided we had not abused ourselves enough on Tuesday so we went back today. I read about a place called Happy Isles and the Mist Trail. How could that not be fun? Better then Disneyland! Yo, ho, yo, ho, A Pirates life for me!

So we got an early start. First we walked through Happy Isles. a series of islands formed by the river splitting the land.

What a beautiful walk it was! The company was not to shabby either!

Plenty of bridges and water crossings.

After following the assorted bridges and water crossings we had to circle around and start the also fun sounding Mist Trail that leads to Vernal Falls.

This is what the trail looked like all the way up! Yep all .8 of a mile to the bridge and then it got worse to the steps. I took a picture looking down for effect. It took us probably 1 1/2 hours to get up and 1/2 to get back down. We are still sore from it. But of course it was worth it.

 We made it to the bridge. Most people stop here. We wanted to. But NO! We are to stubborn to do that. After stopping here for 15 minutes we continued up further.

This is where I couldn't go further. I tried. My fear of height got the better of me. The steps were so tall Patty went on all fours. I did that, but had to turn around because I started getting shaky.

You can see the steps better here. They were getting wet from the mist and Patty said they were getting slippery so she had to turn around too.  Crazy!!

 There was some spectacular scenary to view during the ascent and decent.

One side note. I have alluded to us losing weight since we have gone fulltime. As of this morning, Patty has lost 5.5 lbs. and I have lost 10 lbs. We think it is because we are eating better and because we are more active. We will continue to monitor it.
