Tulare, CA

We are officially fulltimers today!

As I said yesterday we decided not to drive to Yosemite Lakes until Monday. After the grueling last few weeks we needed a pool and hot tub badly! After finishing last night at about 9:00 with the last load at Mom's house and taking the last load of trash to the dumpster at about 10:30 we called it.

We woke up at 5:30 this morning and spent a little time with our daughter Crystal and son-in-law James whose house we have been staying at for the last week. They needed to leave for work just before 8:00 so we headed over to our house where the 5th was parked and finished stowing our gear for the drive. Matthew and Cynthia came over for hugs and kisses and to say goodbye.

We left about 9:00 towards Tulare. We stopped in Frazier Park to eat breakfast and check that the scooter was still back there. All was fine.

We pulled into Fun & Sun RV Park in Tulare, CA at about 1:30. It was 101 F when we arrived.

After setting up the trailer and resting for a while we went to the pool. We truly don't believe a pool and hot tub has ever felt so good, EVER!

We needed to go into town to do some grocery shopping. Guess what, there aren't any! 60,000 people here and the only big grocery store is a Mexican grocery store Vallarta! REALLY. We asked lots of people! There are some smaller markets and a Food Co, whatever that is, but no Vons, or Safeway or Albertsons. We ended up going to Vallarta and actually got some pretty good bargains!

So far so good, the truck is running well. I was surprised that even with all the extra weight if the scooter and all of our full timing gear and going up the grapevine the truck got 12.7 mpg! Over half a tank left after going 180 miles pulling the trailer (the standard tank).

OK, well I can now add California on the fulltime camping map on the right side of the blog.

God Bless all of you and again Patty and I thank you all for all your help in making our dream come true!
