June 11 - Made it to Lake of the Springs

We left Yosemite Lakes today to head for another Thousand Trails called Lake of the Springs. Yep there is actually a lake here! We got a GREAT site here in section 'D' with a view of the lake. Not many sites with sewer hookups here, but we were able to snag one, so we were pleased with that. Tomorrow I will post pictures of our site with pictures of our view as well.
LOTS is in a small town called Oregon House, Ca. We are about 25 miles from Marysville which has a Superwalmart. That made Patty happy! We stopped there on the way in and did some shopping. It is Hot here, today it was about 95. The good news is that there is a pool, and the lake has a swimming beach also. The water seemed warm and there were people swimming in it, but we will probably spend more time at the pool.
As we were leaving Yosemite Lakes today, we came around a corner and there was a cowboy on a horse waiving a red flag to stop us.

Cowboy leading a cow
We slowed down and around the corner on this major highway 120 was a cattle drive! We had never seen a cattle drive, especially on a major highway. We had to stop to allow cars from the other side to pass first on our side. Then the cattle passed.

Cars and Cows!

There were about 10 cowboys on horses and it seemed like they each had a dog to help. Maybe 50 cows were being herded. Honestly this was really cool! Because the cows kept walking it seemed like the cars were going to hit us. It would have been impossible for us to back up with cars behind us and the BIG 5th wheel. It turned out not to be a problem.

The rest of the cows

After the cattle drive it was smooth sailing. The drive down Priest Grade was much easier then the drive up. Using second gear and the exhaust brake it was a snap. After the previous mentioned stop at Super Walmart we arrived at LOTS at about 3:00. We will be here for one week. After hooking up we took a scooter ride around the park. This is a very hilly park. The scooter will be good to have here.

Here is our campsite number D11.

We have beautiful views all around. We can see the lake through the trees from our window. In the above picture see the slide out? I took the below picture from in the slide out.

This picture is taken from inside our trailer

There is a lot of trees, a lot of greenery and a lot of hills. This picture is also taken from our campsite.

Down the hill
As an update to our health issues, I have now lost 12 lbs. and Patty has lost 9.5 lbs. It seems that this full timing life style is agreeing with us!!!!

Love you guys!

Brian and Patty
