We made it to Bend, Oregon!

Today we drove all the way to Bend, Oregon. We were asked more then once, WHY! I get that, we are retired, why the hurry? It was over 400 miles to Bend. Well there was really nowhere else we wanted to be! After talking with RV Bill about his time full timing, he told me that he used to not travel very far each day, but he learned it was best to get to where your destination is. We will learn for ourselves, but where were we going to stop? Dorris, Weed, Shasta is pretty, but we've done that and it wasn't even half way. All that to say after dragging in here at about 5:30 we are really happy we drove all the way. The Bend Thousand Trails is a destination park! We are really happy here so far!
Now for the drive:
Here is a picture of Mt. Shasta near Lake Shasta on Interstate 5. We had driven the 99 to the 5 from our campground at Oregon House, CA.

We stopped in Weed, CA to top off at the Pilot truck stop. The Dodge has a large filler tube so I can use the truck pumps. Fills up quickly!
It was about 12:30 so after fueling up we decided to walk over to the Mickey D's and take advantage of their 2 for $4.00 Big Mac's. I'm a sucker for a Big Mac but won't pay the normal price. Patty and I each had one and shared a fry.
We parked in the truck parking at the Pilot and walked over. This is where this picture of our rig was taken.

After we crossed into Oregon the cross winds were strong, maybe 25 mph or stronger. If we were in a travel trailer instead of a 5th wheel we would have pulled over. Alot of whipping winds too.

We came across this mini-tornado (dirt devil) we saw for miles away. Not big enough to damage anything, but not going away.

When we got to Klanath Falls we saw this in the Klamath River. Logging on the River.

After we setup at Bend Thousand Trails, we went to the pool and Jacuzzi. BTW it is much cooler here then it was at Lake of the Springs. It is supposed to get down to about 37 degrees tonight and when we got into the Jacuzzi at about 9:00 it was about 48 degrees out.
Anyway the Jacuzzi is HOT, and the adult pool (yep there is a separate adult pool) is about 85-87 degrees. I actually went into it tonight after the Jacuzzi and it was warm.

BTW I'm down 13.5 lbs. now, Patty is still at 9 but doing well!

Good night all,
We love you,
Brian and Patty
