Crescent CIty, CA

We drove into Crescent City. It is about 20 miles north of where we are staying. There is a lighthouse called Battery Point Lighthouse that we would go check out. I had read that you can only get to the lighthouse during low tide because it is on an island that can be walked to during low tide.

Battery Point Lighthouse
Unfortunately we got to the lighthouse later then low tide because there was three places of road construction on the way to Crescent City so we were held up by flagmen. By the time we got there the tide was coming back up.

You can see a small walking levy in the this picture that is getting smaller all the time. It is just to the right of the rocks on the left of the picture.

The water was starting to come in, but you could step on the little rocks on the left and keep dry. We had our tennis shoes on and did not bring any extra footwear so we really wanted to keep dry!

Here is Patty on the levy. We wanted to go up to the lighthouse but we were noticing the wate was quickly rising.

We decided we better turn around and get out before we get totally stranded. We took one last picture from the levy and turned around. The water had already come way up and it was not possible to stay dry by this point.

Lighthouse pic
This picture was taken just minutes after we turned back. The path is totally under water now. It was good we turned around and did not walk to the lighthouse. We still had to pull our shoes and wring out our socks. We had to do some shopping and did not want to be squishing in our shoes!

Path GONE!
After the lighthouse we checked out the Walmart. It was in the process of being converted into a SuperWalmart so it was a mess. We didn't stay long.

We then went to the Elk Valley Casino for diner. We got their players card and that gave us $5.00 each in play. We played their money and stopped.

They had a Thursday night Barbecue special. For $10.99 you got a HUGE BBQ diner. You could have Tri-Tip, Chicken, Ribs, and BBQ Suasages. You could have all four or any combination of them. They would double up something if you didn't have all four.

The diner included rolls, baked potato, corn on the cob, baked beans, cole slaw, and a diner salad or soup.

Huge diner!
Patty had the chicken and tri-tip and I had the sausages and tri-tip. We took leftovers home with us and had over 17 oz. of tri-tip left. That's over one pound! We also had 4 sausages and a huge piece of chicken left.

This was enough food for 3 nights! Wahoo!

That's it for today,

Thanks for reading and commenting!

Love you guys,
Brian and Patty
