Continue in Las Vegas, Nevada

We usually don't go to the Strip when we are in Vegas, but we decided to go take a look. There a lots of strange people there. This guy thought he was Bumblebee from The Transformers movie. I think he was trying to get $$$$ donations to get pictures taken with him.

Bumblebee
We went to the old Imperial Palace now owned by Caesars Palace and now called The Linq. They have an Auto Museum. The Linq charges $12.95 admission, but if you go this link: The Auto Collections Free Admission, you can print out free admissions to the museum.

We had a great chat with the brother of the owner Don Williams. Don sells many of these classic cars. He pays The Linq for the right to have the display here. Also any tickets that The Linq sells they keep. Mr. Williams makes money on selling the cars. Not all the cars  are for sale. You are not approached to purchase any cars. Most are $500,000 to $1,000,000, although there are some for under $30K.

This car is a 3 wheel Morgan.

This Rolls Royce has a Crystal Flying Lady hood ornament. Very Rare!

They had several Kennedy Cars. This one can be also be seen in the photo behind the car. It is the car that picked up JFK at Love Field in Dallas before his changed cars and was assassinated. It is supposedly the last car he rode in before the fateful drive.

When President Nixon visited China he wanted to fly his Presidential Limo to China. They would not allow it wanting instead to show off this peace of junk Chinese made Limo. He had to use this Chinese limo out of necessity.

We needed to get some diesel fuel in the truck. The new truck needs Ultra Low Sulfur Fuel. The old 2004 could use any diesel. With all the emission stuff in this one Non-ULSF Diesel would mess up my truck.
Since 2007 in California all you could buy was ULSF diesel and in other states since 2010. To meet regulations they have to post stickers on their pumps.

This sticker is soooooooooo wrong it concerned me. The top is correct for my truck, but the bottom says I should NOT run it in anything newer then 2007. I was so concerned I called Scott B. to make sure I was reading it right, and that the sign was just goofy! That's what they get for buying the signs made in China!

Actually it HAS to be used in 2007 and newer!
Patty wanted to go to the AAA Las Vegas 51's game. They were playing the Sacramento RiverCats.

Las Vegas 51's
Hunter Pence All-Star player for the San Francisco Giants broke a bone in his arm getting hit by a pitch in spring training. He played a few games for the RiverCats the Giants minor league team during rehab.

Here he is sending one into the left field bleachers!

It was a fun game. The 51's won 12-8. Not much defense!

On Mothers day we went to a Prime Rib buffet. after that we went to ABBA the Concert.

ABBA
This is actually a Tribute band but the place was sold out and they were very good. Some of ABBA's hits were:
Money, Money, Money
Dancing Queen
Take a Chance on Me
Chiquitita
Fernando
Mama Mia

ABBA The Tribute
Patty had a great mama's day. Debra and Cynthia are coming soon. More on that later.

God Bless,

Las Vegas Baby!!

We have now moved to the Thousand Trails in Las Vegas, Nevada. We will be here for four weeks, or should I say I will be here for four weeks. The reason I say I will be here for four weeks is that Patty's sister Cynthia and my cousin David's wife Debra will be coming in a few weeks to visit good friends Jody and Rick who now live here in Vegas. Patty will be staying with them at Jody's house while here.
When they leave Patty will drive back to Ventura with them for future daughter-in-law Jasmine's wedding shower. Patty will then fly back and I will pick her up at McCarren Airport.
Now you know why I will be here for four weeks, but not Patty.

FYI: This is the only Thousand Trails with a Neon sign! (Fitting)

Thousand Trails Las Vegas
This campground is a tight parking lot with hookups. We like site number 177 which backups to the maintenance yard. It is quiet at night because the yard closes up. The site next to our door side very rarely gets used because it's on a tight corner, so it's like we get a double site. Plus when poeple come in to the campground they turn to the right. This is to the left. So it is the last place people would go. It is also the only 50 amp site on this row.

Site 177
Here is the pool area. The pool is small but barely gets used. It is kept at about  85 degrees. The hot tub is just past it next to the building.

On Friday we went to the EnduroCross. For those that don't know what this is, Enduro racing is cross country racing on a motorcycle. They take the elements of that.. Water crossings, logs, rocks, sticks, sand, etc.. and put them inside an arena. It is very exciting. There are crashes on every lap.

Endurocross at the Orleans Arena
This is held at the Orleans Casino Arena. This is about the 4th or 5th time we have gone to this event. This time we bought tickets on Craigslist for cheap! Met up with the person at the arena so I felt safe doing it. Security everywhere. $15.00 for $50.00 tickets.

People were crashing in this "firewood" pit all night!

Another crash
We didn't expect this! During X-Games there is an event called Step-up. It is high jumping on a motorcycle. They needed to qualify three people for the X-Games. As it turned out the three highest cleared 30 feet!!

Step-Up competition
The following night was the Supercross Finals! This is the Supercross event of the year. We were in Vegas two years ago and went to this. We learned that if you wait until the last few days you can buy good seats on StubHub for a great price.

We got $81.00 seats for $31.00 by waiting until Friday to buy them for Saturday's race. Here is where we sat.

2015 Supercross Finals
As part of the ticket price you can also go to the pits during the day. Our campground is just 5 miles away from Sam Boyd Stadium so we were able to go back home and have diner and rest up after the pits.

This is Ryan Dungy. He won the tittle this year. He has been a rock solid racer this year, and is one of the good guys. A great example to the kids.

Ryan Dungy
Thought this made a funny picture. See you thought I was considering a new career in broadcasting!

New Announcer!

Here is Ryan Dungy during the race. He is on the orange KTM getting ready to lap the bike in front of him. Yes he really is that fast!

Dungy Racing

Even though Dungy had already wrapped up the championship he continues to win races. Here he is winning the main event!

Fireworks and fire!
Everything is bigger in Vegas, even Supercross! LOL!!

Well that's it for today.. More from Vegas to follow.. And you thought what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas... Not on my blog! LOL.

Love you all,
God Bless,
Brian and Patty

Pahrump Part II

We like to go to local museums to understand the history of where we are. Pahrump has such a museum that we have planned to go to for the entire time we have been here. Somehow time has gotten away from us! We finally made it just before our time was up in Pahrump!

Pahrump Valley Museum
Many of Pahrump's original buildings were moved to this location. You could go inside and look around. This was the General Store. A cash register and different type of dry goods were inside of this building.

General Store
This is the old Pahrump Schoolhouse. all grades went here.

One Room Schoolhouse
This is the oldest standing building in Pahrump. Looks like it may not be standing for long! It is just used for storage now.

Oldest Building
This old ambulance reminded us of the old Helms Bakery trucks. Behind the ambulance you can see grain silos.

Old Ambulance
Many of the old towns had big advertising "Muffler Men". We found this broken one on the museum grounds.

"Muffler Man"
It was originally a Texaco Big Friend.

Texaco Big Friend
A local home sales company bought it and changed the hat and the paint and used it to grab attention to it sales office!

Big Friend Home Sales
It was going to be demolished but it was decided to save it. Maybe someday it will be restored. Until then it sits on the museum grounds broken but not gone!

Broken but not gone!
These cactus flowers had just bloomed. Just thought they were worth showing! Beautiful!

Cactus Flowers
That's it for Pahrump. Now it's on to Vegas for a month!

God Bless you,
Brian and Patty

Pahrump, Nevada

We spent two weeks in Pahrump, Nevada. We stayed at the Wine Ridge RV Park.

Wine Ridge RV Park
We stayed under the Passport America card so it was a very good deal! Wine Ridge has a Very Nice Restaurant called Symphonies and also a winery on the premises,

This is our campsite we stayed at for the two weeks.

Site 814
This is the pool area at the resort. We used the pool and the hot tub several times while we were here.

Pool Complex
While we were here my brother Bruce visited us at the campground. He had a major stroke last July. It is truly a miracle how well he is doing. We had a great visit for about 3 hours.

About 30 miles from Pahrump is an extension of Death Valley. This part of Death Valley is in Nevada while the rest of Death Valley is in California. This is called Ash Meadows.

Ash Meadows
There are three major areas with springs at Ash Meadows. We walked the boardwalks at all the areas, about 3 1/2 miles total walking distance.

Boardwalks
At Salt Creek in Death Valley we showed you the very rare pup fish. There are also some pup fish here at Ash Meadows. Here are a few in this spring.

Patty and I shooting a selfie at Crystal Spring!

Crystal Spring
Here is the spring without us blocking the picture! The water had beautiful colors in it!

Crystal Springs
The American Indians had used the rocks as grinding holes for corn and wheat. Here is one of those holes. It is amazing that they were able to survive in this extreme heat!

Grinding Holes
Jack Longstreet was a character in Nevada history, He was a gunslinger, a gambler and probably a killer. He also was a homesteader in the Ash Meadows area. This path takes you to his cabin.

Longstreet Cabin boardwalk
There's Patty inside Ole Jack's cabin! Actually it was not someplace we wanted to stay in because there were a lot of rat droppings!

Longstreet Cabin
Inside the cabin was filthy. You can see the dark spots which are the droppings I mentioned. We got out of there quickly!

Inside Jacks Cabin
Longstreet built his cabin right next to this spring. Right in the middle you could see it bubbling up where the water was entering the pool. It almost looked like it was boiling.

Longstreet Spring
The boardwalk was split by these rocks. It was pretty cool. If you notice although it was hot out it  really clouded up and on the way back to Pahrump it actually rained on us.

Rocks on boardwalk
Well that's it for today. I'm going to do one more small blog from Pahrump and then it's on the Vegas!

God Bless you!
