Big Sky Country! (Wyoming)

We spent three nights in Wyoming. We need to go back and spend more time exploring but this trip we are just passing through.

Wyoming!
We are driving on I90 which is called the Lincoln Highway in this part of Wyoming.

Wyoming Lincoln Highway
We came to a rest area that had this Giant Memorial to Abraham Lincoln. We try and stop every 75-80 miles to take a potty break and walk around a little. This one worked out great for us.

Abe Lincoln Memorial
We arrived at our campground in Rawlins.. Because it was a Saturday and we try not to travel on Sunday so we can go to church we are staying for 2 nights. We found a little Calvary Chapel in Rawlins we could attend.

We set out to find some touristy type things to see. We saw that there was the old Wyoming State Prison here in Rawlins and they do conduct tours of it. Of course we had to see it.

Rawlins State Prison
They said Patty had skipped out on a charge in California and tried to arrest her, but I bailed her out. I didn't understand what the original charge was, something about having to much fun or something like that! She pleaded guilty and we continued on our tour!

Patty in Prison
Here our tour guide is showing us through Cell Block 'A'. It would have been quite depressing to have been incarcerated here!

Cell Block A
After I made a few smart remarks about the prison the guide decided she had quite enough of me. I was not to complete the tour with the group. It seems though that the punishment does not fit the crime!

Gas Chamber
After Patty did some pleading for clemency the guide decided to let me complete the tour with the group. WHEW, that was close!

We went out to the yard for some R&R. Here you can see the guard tower.

R&R Yard
After Rec time was over we were frisked for any contraband and this is what the guide found on us.

Inmate Contraband
But in reality the prison tour was very interesting and well worth the $8.00 and the hour spent on doing the tour. A must do if you are in the Rawlins area!

On Monday we left for Evanston, Wy. This will be a one nighter only.

Road to Evanston
We came to these tunnels. They did not have the heights listed but as long as I see 18 wheelers go through I feel safe with the 5th wheel. I sit at about 13'4" with the 5th wheel.

Tunnels
We arrived at the Phillips RV Park. It was a very attractive RV Park. Although it was not a Thousand Trails, RPI or a Passport America we were able to get 20% off by using Good Sam and paying cash.

Phillips RV Park
Didn't really do much in Evanston but do a little shopping and rest up for tomorrow's drive. Tomorrow we will be heading towards Ogden, Ut. for three days.

Love you,

Brian and Patty
